With a unique, spine-tingling voice that fuses essences of Bjork, NAO and even Macy Gray, Praything’s Ju Kovacevich has hit a pivotal note with ‘Lonely Girl’. Beside her recording partner Danny Rico, the intensity of the project is blindingly beautiful and lingers with a haunting spell. Whilst tinny guitars begin the track, the steady melody of the chorus pulls its emotional awareness into pieces. Repetitive lyrics such as “I’m sorry, I could be better/ but I’m anxious all the time/ I’ve been a lonely girl without you” really resonate in this outpouring of emotion, and help to propel Praything’s impressively sensitive discography towards its full potential. -JE
